The rarity of this autograph cannot be overstated. In many years of collecting and dealing in music memorabilia, I have never seen another example of Ozzy signing his name as John Osbourne, especially not alongside his signature as Ozzy Osbourne. It captures a moment of transformation, when the boy from Birmingham with a nickname given to him at school became the man who would define an entire genre.

Ozzy Osbourne rose to fame in the late 1960s as the lead singer of Black Sabbath. The band from Birmingham created a sound that was darker, heavier, and more powerful than anything that had come before. Their influence shaped the future of rock music and earned them a place as the founding fathers of heavy metal.

Beyond Black Sabbath, Ozzy built a hugely successful solo career. His life and work became legendary not only for the music, but for the larger-than-life character that he embodied.

Earlier this year, Ozzy performed for the last time in Birmingham at a farewell concert that reunited the original Black Sabbath line-up for the first time in 20 years. The event raised millions for charity, with proceeds benefiting Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice. It was the highest-grossing charitable concert of all time, and a fitting farewell for a man who gave so much to music and to his fans.

On 22 July 2025, Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76. His death marked the end of an era, but his influence and legacy will endure for generations.

A portion of the sale of this autograph will go directly to Cure Parkinson’s.
